A8 motorway

Switzerland's A8 national road links the Bernese Oberland with central Switzerland, running largely as a two-lane expressway rather than a full motorway. For the canton of Obwalden it serves as an economic lifeline, connecting local industry to the Swiss Plateau and the north–south A2 transit corridor. In the opposite direction it provides tourist access to Bernese Oberland ski resorts and the Meiringen-Hasliberg and Interlaken regions.
