Ayres Natural Bridge State Park

Ayres Natural Bridge State Park in Converse County, Wyoming, protects one of the rare natural arches in North America with an active stream running beneath it: La Prele Creek has carved its way through a red sandstone span roughly 10 meters high and 15 meters wide over thousands of years of erosion. The site sat near historic Oregon Trail routes in the 19th century, making it a likely landmark for westward-bound settlers. Open mid-April through mid-October with no admission fee, the compact park offers short trails to the arch, primitive camping, and creek fishing in a quietly remote high-plains setting.
