BAB_41

BAB-41 is a small ceramic mosaic by the anonymous French street artist Invader, installed somewhere in the urban fabric of Hendaye in the Basque Country. Invader — trained at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris and the Sorbonne — has been tiling cities worldwide since the late 1990s with pixelated figures drawn from the classic Space Invaders arcade game. This piece belongs to the local BAB series, managed by the Communauté d'agglomération Pays Basque. Tracking down individual Invader tiles has become a kind of urban treasure hunt, aided by the artist's official map and app at space-invaders.com.
