Portheimka

Portheimka is a Baroque summer villa built in 1728 in Prague's Nové Město district for the wealthy Portheim merchant family. It is attributed to Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer, the prolific Bohemian Baroque architect also responsible for St. Nicholas Church in Malá Strana, and features his hallmark curved facades and richly frescoed interiors. After passing through several owners in the 19th century, the property was designated a protected cultural monument. Today it serves as a cultural and exhibition venue, set within one of the few surviving Baroque garden enclosures in Prague's inner city — a quiet retreat largely unknown to visitors focused on the Old Town.
