Dortmund Signal-Iduna-Park station

Dortmund Signal-Iduna-Park station sits directly adjacent to the Westfalenstadion and Westfalenhallen in western Dortmund. Until December 2006 it operated under the name Dortmund Westfalenhalle, and was renamed to reflect its proximity to Borussia Dortmund's home ground. Its two platforms, each over 400 metres long, were specifically designed to handle the mass arrival and departure crowds of large events — on regular days the station sees only around 1,300 passengers. Outside of matchdays and concerts, it is a straightforward regional rail stop with no further tourist or cultural significance.
