Bandit roller coaster at Yomiuriland near Tokyo opened on 25 March 1988 and was immediately the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world. It held the record for just one year before Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point, Ohio, claimed the title in 1989. Built by Japanese manufacturer TOGO, Bandit is a steel coaster that makes dramatic use of the park's forested hillside setting.
