Basilica of Saint Augustine in Campo Marzio

Sant'Agostino near the Pantheon is one of Rome's most art-rich churches — a Renaissance basilica from 1483 containing masterworks by Caravaggio, Raphael, and Guercino. Saint Monica, the mother of Saint Augustine, is buried here, making it a place of pilgrimage as well as artistic discovery. As the mother church of the Order of Saint Augustine, it has attracted centuries of patronage and fills a central block of the ancient Campus Martius with religious and artistic significance.
