Bintepe

Bin Tepe — Turkish for 'a thousand mounds' — is an elongated Miocene limestone ridge rising from the Gediz River floodplain roughly 10 kilometres west of Salihli in western Turkey. The site is renowned for its vast Lydian royal tumulus field dating to the 7th–6th centuries BC: burial mounds here have been tentatively attributed to kings such as Alyattes and Gyges, though definitive identifications remain contested among archaeologists. The area forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing the archaeological remains of ancient Lydia. Visitors encounter a quietly dramatic ridge landscape with sweeping views north toward Marmara Gölü and south over the Gediz plain, reached via the D555 highway with little in the way of tourist facilities on site.
