Blockhouse No. 1

Also known as: The Blockhouse, Blockhouse

In northern Central Park, a forgotten piece of New York history hides: a small stone fort built in 1814 for the war against Britain that was meant to reach the city (but never did). After Cleopatra Needles it is the second-oldest surviving structure in the park - many New Yorkers walk past it a hundred times before noticing it once.
