Château de Beynes

Also known as: Chateau de Beynes, Burg Beynes (Yvelines)

Beynes Castle lies in the western Ile-de-France in the Yvelines department and was begun in 1073, first as a simple motte-and-bailey and later rebuilt in stone. It was badly damaged in the Hundred Years' War and only partly restored. Today only wall fragments, a moat and parts of the keep survive, listed as a Monument historique since 2014. The ruin sits on the edge of the village, open to the public and occasionally used for small events.
