Ardross Castle

Ardross Castle is a ruined medieval stronghold roughly 1.6 km east of the coastal village of Elie in the Scottish council area of Fife. Its construction is attributed to William Dishington, son of Sir William who died in 1360, placing the castle's origins in the late 14th century. The site is protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument under Scottish heritage law. Little more than fragmentary walls survive today, set in open countryside close to the Fife coast with no formal visitor infrastructure.
