Musée Curie

The Curie Museum occupies the ground floor of the Pavillon Curie on the Institut Curie campus in Paris's 5th arrondissement, where Marie Curie worked from 1914 until her death in 1934. On display are her personal laboratory and adjoining office, both decontaminated of radiation after 1934 and preserved exactly as she left them - glassware, notebooks, instruments. Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person to win two (Physics 1903, Chemistry 1911), and the first woman to be interred in the Pantheon just two streets away. Her daughter Irene and son-in-law Frederic Joliot-Curie - also Nobel laureates - worked here too. The display also covers early radiotherapy applications. Admission is free, and visitors follow a quiet, brief circuit through first-hand scientific history.
