Christuskirche

The Deutsche Evangelische Christuskirche in Paris was built in 1894 as the church of the German Evangelical congregation, which had been founded as early as 1626. The neo-Gothic brick building at 25 Rue Blanche in the 9th arrondissement rose during a period of growing German presence in Belle Epoque Paris - merchants, diplomats and artists formed the parish. The two world wars forced the congregation to pause several times, but it returned to Parisian life. Today services are held in German and the house serves as a cultural meeting point for German-speaking residents of Paris.
