Adolf Fredrik Church

Adolf Fredrik Church is a listed neoclassical church in Stockholm's Norrmalm district, built 1768–1774 to designs by Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz. It bears the name of King Adolf Frederick of Sweden, replacing a 17th-century wooden chapel. Remarkably, the church houses the remains of René Descartes — the philosopher died in Stockholm in 1650 and his remains were transferred here in 1666. Today it serves as an active congregation church with regular concerts.
