Dios Pachacámac
Pre-ColumbianMonumentSculpture+1
Also known as: Pheme, Ossa
Diosa Feme is an allegorical sculpture of the Roman goddess Fama, personification of fame and rumour, set up in the public space of Lima. It belongs to the Latin American tradition of republican monuments that used classical mythology to make civic ideals like fame and virtue visible. Walking past the pedestal you get a small clue to how strongly Peruvian urban design of the 19th and early 20th century leaned on European models.
