Giardino dell'Orticoltura

The Giardino dell'Orticoltura is a 19th-century horticultural garden in northern Florence, founded in 1859 by the Società Toscana di Orticultura as a space for botanical education and public display. Its centerpiece is the Tepidarium, an elegant iron-and-glass greenhouse designed by architect Giacomo Roster in 1880 — one of the few surviving examples of Florentine industrial-era garden architecture. Long neglected and off the main tourist circuit, the garden underwent significant restoration in recent years and has reclaimed its role as a green retreat for locals. Broad lawns, mature trees, and shaded pergola paths make it a quiet alternative to Florence's busy piazzas, open weekdays from 7 a.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m.
