The Frauenau Glass Museum, located in the Landkreis Regen district of Lower Bavaria, has been a state museum of the Free State of Bavaria since 2014, tracing the history of glass culture from antiquity to the present. Frauenau sits at the heart of the Bavarian Forest, a region with a glassmaking tradition reaching back to the Middle Ages and still one of Germany's most significant centres of glass production. Founded in 1975 as a municipal institution, the collection spans historical everyday glassware alongside contemporary glass art by international artists. Under art historian Karin Rühl, the museum bridges folkloric documentation and a curatorial engagement with glass as a fine art medium.
