Korakuen Hall occupies the fifth floor of the Korakuen Hall Building next to Tokyo Dome in Bunkyo ward and has been Japan's premier boxing venue since 1962. With around 1,800 seats it is small but legendary: Japanese world champions such as Naoya Inoue have fought here, New Japan Pro Wrestling stages televised cards in the venue, and from the 1970s to the 1980s the hall became the home of puroresu under Antonio Inoki. Kickboxing, mixed martial arts and mixed-format K-1 evenings run regularly. Tickets are often still available on the day - a far more authentic slice of Tokyo sport culture than the polished corporate-event venues of the adjoining Dome complex.
