Komaba Park

Komaba Park is a public park in the Komaba neighbourhood of Tokyo's Meguro ward. It opened in 1975 on the former estate of the Maeda family, whose last Kaga daimyo built a Tudor-style Western residence and a Japanese house here after 1929. Both buildings survive as designated cultural properties, the Japanese house with its traditional garden and tea pavilion. Within the grounds you also find the Museum of Modern Japanese Literature, which holds original manuscripts from Kawabata to Mishima, and the Japan Folk Crafts Museum founded by Yanagi Soetsu. Stepping in from the street, visitors find a quiet alternation of lawn and tall old trees.
