Mitsui Memorial Museum

The Mitsui Memorial Museum occupies the seventh floor of the Mitsui Main Building in Tokyo's Nihonbashi business quarter and has shown the collection of the 300-year-old Mitsui merchant family since 2005. The focus is on classical Japanese crafts: swords, lacquered writing boxes, Noh costumes and above all tea-ceremony ceramics. Six items are designated National Treasures of Japan, including the celebrated Kizaemon-Ido tea bowl. A reconstruction of the Joan-school tea room can be entered. The museum is intimate and easy to take in, an ideal stop after a stroll across the Nihonbashi bridge.
