Perlenbachtalsperre / Trinkwasserspeicher

The Perlenbach reservoir near Monschau in the northern Eifel impounds the Perlenbach stream into a quiet forest lake that serves as a drinking-water supply for the surrounding area. The adjacent waterworks offers a glimpse into the often-invisible process of turning raw water into tap water. A path circles the lake, making it a pleasant spot for a stroll or a short boat trip, with several mooring options along the shore. A nearby main road is the only minor drawback, occasionally audible from the waterside.
