Saint Joseph's Church

Also known as: Saint Joseph's Church, Bukit Timah, St Joseph's Church, Bukit Timah

Saint Joseph's Church in Singapore's Bukit Timah area was established in 1845, making it the second-oldest church on the island, after the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd. Its most distinctive feature is the cemetery that remains on its grounds — the last Catholic church in Singapore to retain one, giving the site a rare sense of historical continuity in a city that has demolished much of its colonial-era fabric. The building reflects the colonial ecclesiastical architecture of the mid-19th century and sits along Upper Bukit Timah Road on the edge of the Bukit Panjang and Bukit Batok planning areas. The parish remains active today, anchoring a quiet, tree-lined neighbourhood with both living congregation and layered history.
