トトロの森3号地
Totoro Forest Plot No. 3 is a small protected woodland in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, preserved as part of the traditional satoyama landscape — a mosaic of secondary forests, farmland, and streams on the urban fringe west of Tokyo. The area is closely associated with Hayao Miyazaki's 1988 animated film 'My Neighbor Totoro,' which drew on this very landscape for its rural setting. In 1990, inspired directly by the film, the nonprofit Totoro no Furusato Foundation began purchasing threatened forest parcels in the region to protect them from suburban development. Visitors find a quiet, shaded trail where the dense canopy and understory genuinely evoke the film's enchanted woodland atmosphere.
