Wasserfall Dreimühlen

The Dreimühlen waterfall sits in the Kalkeifel region of the Eifel highlands, where the Mühlenbach spills about 4 to 6 metres down a roughly 12-metre-wide limestone step into the Ahbach stream. The calcareous, cold water slowly deposits travertine formations on rocks and vegetation, making this a living example of active limestone geology that sets it apart from typical woodland waterfalls. The site takes its name from the nearby Dreimühlen ruin, the remnants of old grain mills that once used this same watercourse. Reached via local hiking trails between the villages of Ahütte, Niederehe, and Nohn, it is an accessible day destination for walkers and families — though the natural terrain makes it unsuitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
