Borough

Borough is a Northern Line Underground station in the London Borough of Southwark, sitting at the junction of Borough High Street and Marshalsea Road in Travelcard Zone 1. The station lies on one of the world's oldest deep-level tunnel sections, originally opened as part of the City & South London Railway — the first electric underground railway in the world. Its narrow, tube-gauge platforms are noticeably tighter than those of later Underground stations, a relic of Victorian engineering constraints. Around 4.9 million passengers used the station in 2013, primarily commuters moving between south London and the City.
