Badalona sits on the Catalan Mediterranean coast immediately northeast of Barcelona and, with a population of over 230,000, ranks among the largest cities in the greater Barcelona area. Its history stretches back to Roman times, reflected today in the Vil·la Romana de Can Sent-Romà and the parish church of Santa Juliana i Semproniana.
