About Caracas

Caracas is the capital of Venezuela, situated in a mountain valley of the Coastal Range at roughly 900 metres above sea level, a short distance from the Caribbean coast. With a population of over two million, it serves as the country's political, economic and cultural hub. The broad Avenida Bolívar runs through the city centre, and the Parque Central complex forms a distinctive urban landmark. Green spaces such as Parque de Recreación de Alto Prado, along with elevated points like Cerro Apamate and Topo El Samán, provide natural retreats within the metropolitan area.
