About Gharyan

Gharyan is a city situated in the Nafusa Mountains of northwestern Libya, roughly 100 kilometres south of Tripoli. Home to around 123,000 residents, it serves as an important regional and administrative centre. The area is traditionally known for its Berber cave dwellings — semi-subterranean homes adapted to the local climate. Among the points of interest hosted here are the historic Mosque of al-Lmamish, the Wadi Ghan Dam, and traditional family compounds such as the Khalil family house.
