About Kalaw

Kalaw is a hill town in Myanmar's Shan State, situated at roughly 1,300 metres above sea level. Its cool climate and forested surroundings made it a favoured retreat during the British colonial period. Today it is widely known as a starting point for multi-day trekking routes to Inle Lake. The town's skyline is shaped by several pagodas, cetiyas and monasteries, including the gilded မဟာရွှေစည်းခုံဘုရား, reflecting the religiously diverse character of its local population.
