About Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi

Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi is a small city in central Ukraine, situated roughly 150 kilometres south of Kyiv, with a population of around 17,000. It is closely associated with two major military engagements: the Battle of Korsun in 1648 during the Khmelnytsky Uprising, and the Korsun–Shevchenkivskyi encirclement battle of the Second World War. Several memorials and preserved military vehicles, including an IS-2 tank and a SU-76, mark these events across the city, making it a notable destination for those interested in Ukrainian and Eastern European military history.
