Пам'ятний знак на честь з’єднання військ 1-го і 2-го Українських фронтів

This roadside memorial in Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi marks the spot where the 1st and 2nd Ukrainian Fronts linked up during the winter of 1944, completing the encirclement known as the Korsun–Cherkassy Pocket. The battle lasted from 24 January to 17 February 1944 and involved up to four Soviet tank armies pressing against encircled elements of Germany's 8th Army. Though a large portion of the surrounded German forces managed a desperate breakout, casualties on both sides were severe, making it one of the most significant — and costly — engagements on the Eastern Front that winter. The modest monument serves primarily as a site for local commemorations on the battle's anniversary.
