Pegnitz is a small town in the Franconian Switzerland region of Bavaria, situated in the Bayreuth district with a population of around 14,000. It lies along the river of the same name, flanked by wooded hills including the Hirmetsberg and Preßatberg. The parish church of St. Martin and smaller religious buildings such as the Laurentiuskapelle and Penzenreuther Kapelle are notable local landmarks.
