About Schüttorf

Schüttorf is a small town in the Grafschaft Bentheim district of western Lower Saxony, close to the Dutch border. Home to around 13,000 people, it has a compact centre with a notable range of historic sites. The 1793 sandstone bridge (Sandsteinbrücke 1793) and the Ahlder Kreuzsteine reflect centuries of settlement history, while the Ev.-luth. Christophoruskirche, the Reformierte Kirche and the Reformierte Friedhofskapelle speak to the town's religious heritage. The medieval Hünenburg earthwork and an Oldtimer-Maschinenpark add further interest for visitors drawn to history and vintage technology.
