About Waldkirchen

Waldkirchen is a small town of around 11,000 inhabitants in the Bavarian Forest, situated in the Freyung-Grafenau district close to the borders with Austria and the Czech Republic. It is a state-recognised resort set among forested hills. One geographical curiosity is the European watershed between the North Sea and the Black Sea, which passes through the municipal area. Local points of interest include the viewpoint towards Plöckensteinsee, the Kapelle Fürholz chapel, and the Teufelsschüssel. A commemorative plaque marks the builder of the historic Kreuzbachtriftkanal, dating to 1780.
