Also known as: Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium
The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, commonly just called the Mirpur Stadium, sits about ten kilometres north of central Dhaka in the Mirpur district and holds around 25,000 spectators. Originally built in 2006 for football, it quickly became the main home of the Bangladesh cricket team and has been certified for Tests, ODIs and T20s since 2007. On big match days against India, Pakistan or Australia, the city turns green and red, and the images from inside the bowl land on every news channel. Tickets are hard to get online in the weeks before a match, much of the allocation runs through sponsor channels.
