Aberglasney Gardens

Aberglasney House is a Grade II*-listed manor in Carmarthenshire, set above the Afon Tywi valley near the village of Llangathen — roughly 6 km west of Llandeilo and well away from Swansea despite its listing assignment. The estate spent decades in near-total ruin before a charitable trust undertook a major restoration in the 1990s, and that haunted past still lends the gardens an atmospheric quality distinct from manicured showpieces. In 2015 the Royal Horticultural Society ranked the formal gardens among the ten most outstanding in Britain. Visitors move through several distinct garden rooms of different eras, including a unique cloister garden with intact parapet walk, alongside mature woodland with views across the Welsh hills. The gardens are open April through October from 10 am.
