Шуменски Университет Константин Преславски

Shumen University "Bishop Konstantin of Preslav" is a public university in northeastern Bulgaria's city of Shumen, founded in 1971 as a teacher-training college and elevated to full university status in 1995. It takes its name from Archbishop Konstantin of Preslav, a central figure of the medieval Preslav Literary School, where the Cyrillic alphabet was systematized and disseminated around the mid-10th century. Today the university offers programs across the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, and remains the leading academic institution in the Shumen region.
