Ada is a small city in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, founded in 1889 and named after Ada Reed, daughter of the town's first postmaster. It serves as the county seat of Pontotoc County and, notably, as the political capital of the Chickasaw Nation — one of the largest Native American nations in the United States, which maintains its tribal government in the area. With roughly 16,500 residents, Ada functions as a regional hub in southern Oklahoma.
