Tunjuelito

Tunjuelito is the 6th administrative district (localidad) of Bogotá, covering roughly 1,062 hectares in the south of the capital with around 302,000 residents. Its name derives from 'tunjo', a small anthropomorphic gold figurine crafted by the Muisca people, who inhabited the Bogotá savanna long before Spanish colonization. Today it is a predominantly working-class residential district with little dedicated tourist infrastructure documented.
