Aquarius-Wassermuseum

The Aquarius Water Museum occupies a decommissioned water tower in Styrum, a district of Mülheim an der Ruhr, transforming a piece of Ruhr industrial heritage into an interactive museum about water supply and management. The tower is part of the Route der Industriekultur, a network of over 50 industrial monuments that has catalogued the Ruhr region's industrial past since 1999. Exhibits spread across multiple floors cover topics ranging from drinking water treatment to the hydraulic engineering feats of the late 19th century. Beyond its educational content, the cylindrical tower structure with its preserved original steelwork gives the museum a distinctly atmospheric quality that sets it apart from conventional museum buildings.
