Arches National Park

Arches National Park on Utah's Colorado Plateau near Moab preserves the world's densest concentration of natural stone arches — more than 2,000 documented openings of at least 90 cm, from delicate fins to the iconic Delicate Arch spanning nearly ten meters. The park's Entrada Sandstone was deposited some 150 million years ago, and erosion by water, ice, and salt continues to sculpt new arches while others slowly collapse. Designated an International Dark Sky Park, the 310 km² wilderness offers some of the least light-polluted night skies in the American Southwest, drawing astrophotographers alongside hikers and climbers. Ranger-led programs interpret both geology and the petroglyphs left by Ute people and Ancestral Puebloans, adding a layer of human history to the stark desert landscape.
