Arkansas State Capitol

The Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock is the seat of Arkansas state government and one of the more deliberate neoclassical statehouse designs in the American South. Construction began in 1900 using local limestone, with the gilded dome — finished in bronze and gold leaf — modeled closely on the United States Capitol in Washington D.C. The building took decades to complete, reaching substantial completion around 1915 with interior details added as late as the 1980s. Visitors can tour the rotunda, the legislative chambers, and climb toward the dome for views over Little Rock. The structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
