Automobile Welt Eisenach

The automobile welt eisenach (awe) is a specialist automotive museum in Thuringia tracing more than a century of car manufacturing in Eisenach, one of Germany's oldest automobile production sites. The first Eisenach motor car was built here in 1898; the factory later became home to the Wartburg, the iconic DDR-era vehicle produced until 1991. The permanent collection spans originals from across all periods of local production, from pre-war models to two-stroke classics of the East German era. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday (April–October 10am–6pm, November–March 11am–5pm) and is fully wheelchair accessible.
