AutoMuseum Volkswagen

The AutoMuseum Volkswagen displays around 140 vehicles spanning the entire VW brand history — from the original Beetle prototypes of the 1930s to modern concept cars — across 5,000 square metres. Founded in 1985 with support from Volkswagen AG, it operates independently from the adjacent Autostadt complex and traces the marque's model and design evolution chronologically. Among the most compelling exhibits are rare prototypes and limited-run models that never reached full production, including postwar-era studies that shaped the Beetle's commercial success. Rotating special exhibitions cycle in roughly 20 additional pieces. The museum is open Thursday through Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm.
