Abashiri Station

Abashiri Station sits in the northeastern corner of Hokkaido, in the city of Abashiri within the Okhotsk Subprefecture, and has operated since 1912. It serves as the terminus of the Senmo Main Line from Kushiro and a junction with the Sekihoku Main Line toward Asahikawa. For visitors, it is the practical gateway to the Okhotsk Sea drift ice in winter and to the nearby Abashiri Prison Museum, the area's main historical attraction.
