Menden (Sauerland) station

Menden (Sauerland) station sits southwest of the town centre along the Hönne river and is served by the Hönnetalbahn, a regional line connecting the Sauerland to the Ruhr area. Opened in 1872, the station once had a Gründerzeit-era building that stood vacant for years before being demolished in 2012. A replacement building mimicking the rough outline of the original was erected in its place, but no historic fabric survives. Today it functions as a straightforward regional transit stop with no particular architectural or cultural draw.
