Arnsberg (Westfalen) station

Arnsberg (Westf) station was built in 1869 in the Neorenaissance style and opened in 1870/71 with the construction of the Obere Ruhrtalbahn, one of the key early railway lines through the Sauerland region. Its symmetrical facade with arched windows and decorative stonework is a textbook example of how smaller Prussian provincial towns expressed civic ambition through railway architecture during the early Kaiserreich. The building is a listed monument under North Rhine-Westphalian heritage law. It remains in active use for passenger rail services today, with parts of the building also housing rooms for local social groups and community organizations.
