Tsubame-Sanjō Station

Tsubame-Sanjō Station is a stop on the Jōetsu Shinkansen line in Niigata Prefecture, opened in 1982 to serve the adjacent cities of Tsubame and Sanjō, whose administrative boundary runs through the station grounds. The area is regionally known for its metalworking industry — Tsubame-made cutlery and kitchen tools are a local point of pride across Japan. For most visitors the station functions purely as a transit point en route to Niigata city or Tokyo, with limited facilities beyond the platform.
