Yudanaka Station

Yudanaka Station is the terminus of the Nagano Dentetsu line, situated in the mountain town of Yamanouchi in Nagano Prefecture. Opened in 1927, it retains a modest wooden station building typical of the late Taishō period, lending it a quietly historic feel amid the surrounding mountain scenery. The station serves mainly as a jumping-off point for the Yudanaka hot spring district and the nearby Jigokudani Monkey Park, where Japanese macaques bathe in open-air thermal pools. For most visitors it functions as a transit stop rather than a destination in its own right.
