Bank Sztuki

Bank Sztuki — roughly 'Art Bank' — is a protected interwar brick building from 1922 in central Katowice, repurposed as an interdisciplinary arts centre. The structure dates from a period when Katowice, newly incorporated into the reborn Polish state, was developing rapidly as an industrial and cultural hub in Upper Silesia. Today it hosts contemporary art exhibitions, cultural events and residency programmes, its name a deliberate play on the exchange of artistic rather than financial currency.
